It’s a new year which means another year of CoderDojo is about to commence! We currently have three Dojo’s running all over the Sunshine Coast; Noosa, Maleny and Maroochydore and registrations for term 1 are open now.
So what IS Coder Dojo? Coder Dojo is a global movement of free, volunteer-led, community based coding clubs for young people between the ages of 7 and 17. Here at CoderDojo we learn how to code, develop websites, apps, games and explore technology in an informal and creative environment. Emphasis on the informal, we prefer you think of Sunshine Coast CoderDojo as a club with mentors, rather than a classroom with instructors.
At Sunshine Coast CoderDojo we rely heavily on free web-based software, particularly Scratch, Codecademy and many others. Our focus is to facilitate what ever it is the Ninjas want to learn, we have no syllabus or curriculum and we encourage peer-led education as much as we can.
Sunshine Coast CoderDojo sessions run every Saturday morning from 10:00am – 12:00pm during the term periods. Term 1 for Maleny and Noosa starts on the 28 January and the term 1 start date for Maroochydore is the 4 February.
ALL CHILDREN MUST BRING THEIR OWN LAPTOP.
Though everything we do is web-based, we are a not for profit organisation and DO NOT provide laptops/computers for children’s use. If you only have a tablet and wish to come, contact us on facebook or by email and we will let you know what your options are.
To sign up please register on Zen https://zen.coderdojo.com and join the Dojo you wish to visit.
