CoderDojo Sunshine Coast is part of CoderDojo, a global collaboration providing free and open learning to young people, especially in programming technology.
Mentors are wanted to help out with two CoderDojos around the Coast starting on 16 May 2015.
The success of the CoderDojo program and teaching kids to code depends on volunteer mentors. All it takes is two hours of your time on Saturdays during term session dates.
Anyone can be a mentor. You don’t need to be an expert in coding – all you need is a passion for helping kids learn. You don’t have to be at every session – whatever time you can provide. You are often asked to guide kids with ideas, point them to other kids who have the knowledge or call in help of a lead mentor with the tough questions.
If you have an interest in coding, technology and programming that’s a bonus as you will help guide and inspire kids in all sorts of languages like Scratch, HTML, Python, JavaScript and more.
Often parents who have children enrolled in the program decide to become mentors. If your child is enrolled why not make the most of your time at CoderDojo by getting involved and helping the kids out. This is an excellent way to stay up to date with what your kids are learning and developing the skills necessary to help them along the way.
