CoreEd is offering Sunshine Coast youth the opportunity to become the creators of tomorrow’s technology. The new program offers middle school students the chance to use technology to interact, create, innovate and solve real world challenges.
“For most people, the digital revolution hasn’t even started. CoreEd teaches our kids today the skills they’ll need for the 21st century,” said Craig Josic, co-founder of The Core.
CoreEd is hosting an inspirational and transformative event to showcase this original project on 28 March at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s (USC) Engage Research Lab.
CoreEd, together with the Sunshine Coast’s vibrant innovation community and special guests, will provide displays and activities to demonstrate the vast possibilities that innovative technology offers.
“Technology is an exciting tool with endless possibilities, only limited by the imagination, which will radically increase over the next decade,” Mr Josic said.
At the CoreEd showcase event parents, teachers and students can view the latest technology, engage with local digital champions and interact hands-on with the latest gadgets, including:
- Ride the Rift! Experience a 3D virtual reality rollercoaster ride
- Need a hand? Watch a 3D printer print a prosthetic hand
- Don’t touch! Play without touch, using the Leap Motion and XBox Kinect
- Immerse yourself in the 3-wall projection room in action
- Cloud DC Digital Toybox
- ‘No Kidding’ author Yvette Adams
- Minecraft, and lots more
The after school program has been developed to empower and inspire the minds of tomorrow. Students develop skills in entrepreneurship, innovation, information technology and coding. Each session is designed to support self-directed learning in a motivating and optimistic environment.
Sunshine Coast Grammar and St Andrews Anglican College are celebrating their program completion with a community presentation at the CoreEd showcase.
“CoreEd is excited to collaborate with Engage Research Lab at USC and inspire more kids into coding and entrepreneurship by using innovation and gamification,” Mr Josic said.
