An additional 1255 premises across the Sunshine Coast are set to receive fast broadband with the roll out of fixed wireless technologies in the following areas:
Doonan West (surrounds), Tinbeerwah (surrounds), Yandina (surrounds), Eumundi West (surrounds), Coolabine.
The announcement follows the news of an additional 167,000 homes and businesses which were added to the ‘build preparation’ phase of NBN Co’s rollout maps earlier this month. Build preparation takes place after the start of design phase (preparation of maps, surveying and rodding and roping) and ahead of the physical build (build commenced).
Detailed maps showing the areas to be covered by the network are available at: www.nbnco.com.au/rollout/rollout-map.
On average it takes around 12 months from the start of construction until residents and business owners can access services over the NBN from phone and internet providers. A list of service providers can be found here.
NBN Co spokesperson Lalla Mackenzie, said thousands more families and businesses across Australia were now a step closer to receiving fast, affordable and reliable broadband.
“The National Broadband Network can open up opportunities for families and business owners to better participate in the digital economy. Fast broadband can help deliver improved access to e-health resources, online education, teleworking opportunities and entertainment on demand.
“For many farms, homes and businesses in rural and regional areas, the rollout of the NBN will provide access to internet speeds and bandwidth that many in the big cities take for granted.”
