Traffika’s founder and Managing Director Matt Forman has been living on the Sunshine Coast for nine years, moving here from Brisbane to raise a family. He started Traffika five years ago and now has 16 staff based on the Sunshine Coast, two in Melbourne and 20 in their Asia office.

“We are entirely Cloud-based and use the full Google suite, which has allowed us to grow the business cost effectively.”

Focused on digital business generation, Traffika works with corporate, government and enterprise sectors, including retail, financial and professional services.

“A lot of the work we do can be delivered online, so we have a balance between providing innovative solutions and living in a regional environment with lifestyle benefits. This means we also have a happier workforce,” Matt said.

What are the operating advantages and challenges to being based on the Sunshine Coast?

We have an amazing culture here on the Coast, making it our biggest asset. The cost of doing business here is lower than a capital city, but we have to travel more and access Brisbane airport to get to other capital cities.

Other challenges include the difficulty in finding a knowledge workforce for a niche service, and broadband infrastructure.

How are you using digital technology and systems to evolve your business practices?

We are entirely Cloud-based and use the full Google suite, which has allowed us to grow the business cost effectively. Our clients rely on us to let them know what digital innovations are becoming available, so we have to stay ahead of the game.

What are the key digital innovations changing your industry sector?

Digital technologies are constantly changing. At the macro level, the cost for Cloud infrastructure is falling rapidly, allowing for more accessibility.

We are now able to store and process massive amounts of data in the Cloud very quickly to develop innovative solutions for our clients. Digital marketing is also changing for the better as quality content is becoming increasingly important and we can be more strategic as it’s data driven.

Do you have sufficient access to broadband and/or WI-FI facilities for operational purposes?

Our internet connection is more reliable now since moving to a fibre connection about a month ago.

How do you think the expanding digital economy will benefit the Sunshine Coast region?

The digital economy is an industry where people can create a lot of value if they’re good at what they do. It will help improve unemployment and drive up average wages, generating more spending locally. From a branding perspective, it will promote the Sunshine Coast as a smart, connected place with a better quality of life.
