POMO has been operating on the Sunshine Coast since 2008. The creative agency offers graphic design, advertising, website design, digital and marketing strategies for businesses. Digital Director Lisa Harrison’s focus is on social media training, teaching business owners to contextualise and digitally market their company through hands-on digital learning. Lisa stays up to date with the latest technology through research, experiment and networking with other industry leaders via social media, to expand and build on existing technological practices.
What are the operating advantages and challenges to being based on the Sunshine Coast?
Advantages include the lifestyle benefits of the beaches and weather, as well as a community that encompasses many interesting and unique business ventures. Businesses on the Sunshine Coast are great when it comes to networking and building relationships.
The main disadvantage is the local budget. There are minimal large-scale businesses in this region, as well as small-scale acknowledgment of and investment in community building.
What are the key digital innovations changing your industry sector?
Key digital innovations occur every day whether it’s in social media, communication methods, computers or mobile phone technology. As a result, consumers and their buying behaviour patterns are constantly changing.
Do you have sufficient access to broadband and/or WI-FI facilities for operational purposes?
Yes. Telstra is the only provider who services their physical location on the Sunshine Coast.
How do you think the expanding digital economy will benefit the Sunshine Coast region for businesses, families and communities?
By expanding the digital economy, the region’s reputation and knowledge will increase, creating greater revenue investments into the community. Through communicating the Sunshine Coast’s adoption and restructuring around the digital economy, an opportunity exists for the region to compete on an international scale by having the resources to support business from other regions. People from an array of locations will also have increased knowledge on what events and functions are occurring on both a social and business level.
